It starts with the outline of an idea. The joy is working through that idea and developing a new creation or woven structure from willow.

Isle of Wight Golden Hill installation

One of my favourite commissions to date. Being able to let my creative juices flow on this large scale project was really rewarding. All the materials used were coppiced from the island on their various nature reserves.

Trio of oak leaves

Made for a National Trust property these were woven as part of a sculpture trail. Delving in to the myriad of different oak leaves, we selected 3 to replicate as large oak leaf willow sculptures.

Wickerman Alton Towers

I was lucky enough to do all the willow theming for the ‘Wickerman’ rollercoaster at Alton Towers. This was a 3 month project and entailed over 100 panels, 3 metre totem poles as well as this 2 sides sculpture of their wicker man design.

Furniture

I create traditional & contemporary furniture to suit my clients needs. These incorporate lots of different weaves creating a very attractive, strong finish.

Lidded hampers

Whether oval, round or square, lidded baskets are a big part of my work. If you’d like a hamper or toy box creating get in touch.

Kirstie’s Handmade Fair

After featuring on 2 of Kirstie’s TV shows, every year I run mass willow workshops for 100 people at a time during her Handmade Fair. It’s great fun spreading the weaving dream love.

Weaving sculptures

The variety of my work is one of the things I love most. Although basketmaking seems very different, I’m still creating lines and working to an idea. The control my Basketmaking skills give, help my willow sculpture weaving.

Soaking

Preparing the willow is an important part of basket making. Making sure the willow has been soaked enough is key to quality basket weaving. I have 3 soaking troughs which are constantly in use.
