I hold one, two day & Skills week courses for beginners, intermediates and advanced basket makers.

I run workshops interntionally & throughout the U.K.

I also provide private tuition and vocational courses if you wish to take basket making to the next level. Please contact me to make an enquiry.

  1. Skills Week Oct 2022

    Monday 10 – Friday 14 October 2022

    £445.00

    This course is designed to sharpen up your basketmaking skills.

    The course will revolve around a square cornered basket & either a Fishing creel, a fitched basket or a basket of your choosing.

    You create 2 baskets to make during the week which incorporate key techniques you need in your basket making tool box. Techniques covered – scalloming, corner posts, partitions, bases, fastenings, hinges, lids, handles, made to measure work, hoops, waling variations, fitching, square corner borders.

    *If you have a specific project you’d like to create during the week this should also be possible but please contact me first*

  2. Square work Trug Zoom workshop

    Tuesday 15 – Thursday 17 November 2022

    £50.00

    The workshops will run over x3 evenings from 7.30pm – 9pm (GMT) Monday 1st, Tuesday 2nd & Wednesday 3rd August 2022.

    My aim is to show you the techniques I use in my square work Trugs and to offer as many useful tips as I can. I’m also here to answer any questions you have along there way.

    Topics covered will be – square work base setups, scallom staking up method, different variations on ‘packing’ weaves, 3 rod waling abound end post cormers/reverse waling, 5 or 6 rod borders, square corner & blunt corner borders, x2 different handles

  8. Dads Tool Basket – Traditional English Style

    On this workshop you’ll learn all the techniques required to create traditional English Square Work. We’ll be making one of my Fathers favourite baskets.

    while making Dads ‘tool basket’ you’ll learn these skills and more – English bases, traditional staking up, blunt corners tips & tricks, blunt borders, packing & handles.

    Being able to teach this basket is a real pleasure, passing on the knowledge Dad gave to me.

  10. Laundry Basket with double border lid

    On this workshop you’ll create a traditional laundry basket using my favourite method for fitting a lid – the double border method.

    Over the 3 days you’ll learn all the skills involved which include – foot borders, double lid attachments, lids, handles, English rand, how to hide weaver ends, waling techniques, lid weaving techniques & more.

All courses will be held at Admaston Village Hall WS15 3NH situated in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside overlooking Blithfield Reservoir. Minimum of 4 students per course, should there be insufficient numbers the course will be canceled 3 weeks in advance & students notified via email.
